Calling Out Congress on Climate Change

Rep. Betty McCollum and John Abraham call out Congress for denying anthropogenic climate change.

    ‘You cannot control the climate’

Maybe an individual can’t control the climate on one’s own, but that’s exactly what we’ve been doing as a species, albeit unintentionally and badly, through changing land-use and by digging-up coal and burning it at a rate over one million times the rate at which it was deposited.

The science has been growing increasingly evident for decades. Callender in the 1930s thought it was happening, and now there’s no significant doubt. We now know that CO2 is at the highest level in at least 800,000 years and that it was put there by us, we also know that CO2 is a greenhouse gas and that the warming has resulted in more water vapour in the atmosphere, another GHG. So we have a positive feedback, another is the melting polar ice and the out-gassing of methane from melting permafrost. Methane is a very powerful GHG. And the earth is warming. Could they be related? We know that it can’t be the sun. Of course this is only a very quick summary, but moderately intelligent open-minded readers would understand, as would anyone who bothers to actually look at the science.

Climate science is not about politics, but denial of climate science is very much about politics, and a Denial Industry who employ an army of assorted individuals and a small number of corrupt scientists paid by vested interests to lie about the science, dissemble and deceive the Public.

The Tea Party are a Koch-funded and controlled group. As for Congress and the Senate, find-out their funding from coal and oil companies via
